Polichinelle Themed French Painting From The Early Years Of Napoleon III Era
This endearing portrait represents two brothers holding a Polichinelle. The eldest is wearing the proper uniform of a pupil raised in a military school, sitting next to his working folder with study papers inside, while the youngest has not entered school as yet and stands wearing a typical young child garment, consisting in a wide plain dress with apparent lingerie chemise and pantaloons. He plays with a colorful boy character plaything with flame red trousers, blue blouse, yellow bag and wide-brimmed pointed black hat shaped in the First Empire manner.
