We will spend four full days in Madrid, since there is so much we want to show you in the Spanish capital!
Visits to four museums are scheduled, two major private doll collections, gatherings with four researchers and authors that will tell you about doll making in Spain, shopping opportunities and some free time to adjust to the rhythms of the most aristocratic city in Spain.
From Madrid we will go North-West to Salamanca, stopping in the medieval city of Ávila with its legendary fortifications. Casa Lis will unveil a surprising antique doll collection as well as major Art Nouveau artifacts gathered by collector extraordinaire Manuel Ramos Andrade.
Heading South, towards the iconic city of Sevilla, we will stop in Mérida, a typical Roman city that shows signs of the different populations that lived there through time, explaining the complex Spanish history. Our next stop will be in Chiclana, on the seaside, where Maria-Emilia Lira, one of the most respected doll authorities in her country, will display her legendary Spanish doll collection especially for you.
In Córdoba we will visit the famous Mosque Cathedral, in Granada your highlight will be the Alhambra and in Cartagena you will experience some shopping in a typical Southern Spanish center city.
In Valencia we will follow the Silk Road and visit several local museums, including the very remarkable Ceramics museum. Tarragona comes next with a local market colorful experience.
Barcelona will be your final destination. You will enjoy la Rambla, Guell’s visionary architecture, the amazing Frederic Marès museum, the Costume museum and a dinner with author Luisa Camarero. While in Barcelona, you will also visit three toy and doll museums in Figueres, Sant Feliu de Guixols and Sitges before you enjoy your final Gala dinner at Casa Milà.
